Our Philosophy on Curtains

… and the price behind them. We’re breaking it down for you on why you need curtains, why they’re worth it and what a difference they make in your home.

PHILOSOPHY

Personality:

Curtains are the perfect place to give color and texture to reflect what your design style says about you. There are a ton of options to play with, like different materials, rods, patterns, textures, and trim! Don’t be afraid to go BOLD!

INVESTMENT:

Having custom curtains in your home is like having a well-tailored suit. It’s going to fit you and only you. It enhances the height of the ceilings by bringing your eye upward all while hiding the edges of the window to make it seem bigger. It softens all the sharp angles in a room and tricks the eye to make the space feel more expansive. We like to highlight what we like and to hide what we don't.

FUNCTIONALITY:

A question you’ll hear time and time again from designers is, “how do you live in this space?” we want to know the little details from where you sit in the mornings, how the sun comes in, to how much privacy you need at night. Draperies can give you the flexibility you want in a space, by giving you the function you need for the time of day and occasion you’re faced with. Everyone is a bit different, some like a lot of light, and some like a lot of flexibility. Working with a designer gives you the practicality that works for you.

WHAT YOU’RE PAYING FOR

PROFESSIONAL WORKMANSHIP:

The level of sewing detail is unmatched to buying curtains ready-made. Working with talented makers also helps when a material is out of stock because it allows us to be a bit more creative.

Lastly, the people we work with have been in business a very long time, it’s a family-run business and we hold value to that! We love supporting people who are hardworking, have attention to detail, and love what they do, it makes our job and everyone’s experience a brighter one!

PROFESSIONAL INSTALL:

We price out our curtains with the material, labor, and install all in one. We try to avoid the DIY process here. For those of us who have hung curtains ourselves (headache), then spent another full day steaming them to try and get them to sit just right… OH, and then they’re too long and puddle on the floor? We avoid this scenario because really, it’s not worth our time and it’s not worth yours. With a professional install you’re guaranteed perfection and efficiency. They’re steamed at the end of install, guaranteed to be the perfect length, and then you never have to touch them again. It’s a win, win.

STILL HESITANT?

Curtains are one of the number one things that make your space feel custom, well-planned, and stunning. Trust your designer’s eye, because we know how a fabric can transform the depth of a room. We wanted to show you a few before and afters of projects we’ve done.

Office Update!

Screen Shot 2020-06-29 at 12.20.59 PM.png

We’ve been super busy here at the office and we’ve done a few updates we wanted to show you! Wish we were in a place to throw a party and have an open house like we did a couple years back. But until then, we’re still designing and celebrating the wins and missing you guys all the same!

Take a look at our curtain install in the conference room. They instantly made the ceilings feel so much taller and helped the windows to blend in with the rest of the room. We’re really excited to make these changes to the office because they’re great examples of how transformative small changes are!

It took some measuring, planning and a lot of steaming to make this dream come true.

We try to keep all sorts of rugs samples, pillows and fabrics at easy reach to be inspired. Often one kind of texture or color will lead to more samples. But it’s what we’ve got to do to make each space unique to you! And of course we’ve decorated for Thanksgiving. Do you guys like our little pumpkins?

We’re in awe at how fast this year has happened. But looking back, we’ve accomplished a lot. Remember to take a step back and be proud of yourself! Talk soon!

Shop Our Style!

We’re really excited to be offering this new option for you all! In the past, we’ve often been asked to share some of the pieces we’ve selected in our projects. Many of these items are only offered to the trade. However, we have found a way to extend our curated collection to you! Approaching this idea, we all decided to create our own personal collections to reflect our own design tastes! As well as teaming up with our friends from New Hat and their beautiful new wallpaper collection!

If you didn’t know already, New Hat is made up of two uberly talented artists who specialize in Surface Design. They work with designers (like us!) to dream up and transform spaces. They have been a part of some amazing Nashville projects and have recently teamed up with Chasing Paper—a wallpaper company that is non-toxic and VOC free (a big plus) and made in the USA! So to celebrate this new collection, we’ve designed some spaces around a few of their new products! Take a look at their website to learn more about their talents and beautiful offerings!

BRITTANY

I am most drawn to blues- especially navy- with accents of brass, warm wood tones, pops of white, and other mixed metals. Anything with a nod to French design, whether it be Parisian or cottage-inspired, will almost always put a smile on my face. And collected treasures that hold memories and sentiments from loved ones and travels will always outshine any decor that can be found in a store.

PAIGE

I love color! (If you can't tell) I love the way a color or a pattern makes me feel when I see it in a space. Cheerful is a state I like to be in so I surround myself with color in more ways than one. I am not afraid to go bold in my space or present a bold choice to a client. I love bringing out their personality when planning a room for them to love!

MADISON

I am most drawn to clean lines, deep hues and complementary colors. I treasure the blend of old and new and have a deep appreciation for spaces that feel both lived in and layered. I believe that natural elements, stacked books, and an interesting wallpaper should be included in all projects.

Back to School!

Logo - Teal.png

Can you believe it’s September already? Things have changed a lot since last school year and we may be spending some more time in our homes this coming fall. Making it even more important for our spaces to have meaning and become more versatile for what our needs are. With those of you who have had to reconfigure dining rooms and other common areas into make-shift workplaces these past few months, we can all understand how difficult it can be to concentrate when we need to.

Sloan_Presentation.jpg

With so many children homeschooling and distance-learning this year, we thought we should highlight a previous project that would benefit so many of you struggling to create areas in your home that are conducive to study.

As this family's home was built with two separate laundry rooms, we proposed that the unused space be turned into a homework room for the children.

image.png

Working within the parameters of the existing walls, we removed all the laundry fixtures in plan and added custom desks with ample storage, sconces for task lighting, hooks for backpacks, acrylic rolling desk chairs, storage ottomans for additional seating (and hiding extra items away), and pin boards and dry erase calendars to keep everyone organized and on task.

Additionally, we proposed a whimsical wallpaper in either lemons or oranges with greens and blues to accent the walls. And while this may seem just like a fun pop of color, careful focus on color theory was actually given in the selection.

Did you know that the color green promotes efficiency and focus and that blue helps with comprehension and challenging learning situations? And small doses of the colors orange and yellow act as mood lifters, invigorate, and increase the oxygen supply to the brain! Small changes in a space, but impactful and beneficial to the user nonetheless.

Hi Everyone!

This month, is an extraordinarily exciting month for us! Why? Because this month, we’re focusing on our favorite thing—fabrics!

If you want some information on fabrics, try looking at one of our previous blog posts!

If you want a trip down memory lane, keep reading! See some of the fabric projects we’ve done for ourselves!

BEFORE

Paige came across these chairs and have recovered them quite a few times. They were once brown and scuffed and have been repaired a clean white, helping the chair’s fabric colors shine!

AFTER

Paige reupholstered them with a durable colorful fabric. This gave them another life! You’ll find four of them at the office in our meeting room and two at Paige’s dining room.

BEFORE

These stools are sturdy and Paige thought they had enough promise to pick up. We see the vision before the reality and that keeps us excited. Sometimes, the uglier, the better because we know we can make a transformation!
