If your home had a heart (and a stomach), it would probably be the kitchen. But kitchens are usually the first sign of dating thanks to trends that come and go quickly and wear-and-tear that’s bound to happen in any home.
Whether your kitchen is dated, dark, or just not you, we know how to come in and give it the makeover the heart of the home deserves. And, we’re a sucker for the shocking before-and-afters.
Here's a look at three kitchen transformations we're proud of.
A Personality Transplant
When we got our hands on this kitchen, it had a very specific look: a massive curved island with curly metal chairs, brown everywhere from the floors to the cabinets and backsplash, and tiny pendant lights that were neither functional nor fashionable. And the walls were a green that evoked… something unpleasant.
The after, though, is a point of pride. The island stayed massive but became much more functional, now oversized with storage and seating instead of curving its way through the entire space. We painted it a pretty slate blue to break up the white we went with everywhere else (cabinets, walls). We added oversized pendant lighting and a geometric diamond backsplash crowned by a piece of natural wood.
Feeling Blue to Looking ✨Blue✨
Our vision for this whole-home transformation was light, timeless, and very aligned with our client’s own personality and personal touches. We made sure the home wasn’t a copy-and-paste Pinterest board but, instead, a true and unique reflection of the home’s owner.
The kitchen and dining room needed to become bright, airy spaces and flow naturally into a living room. We partnered with Arturo Calderon of Peacock Painting on this project, and when the work was done, he put it best: her personality shines in every room.
From Builder-Grade to Bright and Modern
Before: standard counters, dated countertops, and dark walls and floors that make your shoulders slump. But after? A kitchen retrofitted for functionality and fashion.
White upper and lower cabinets and sleek countertops created a contemporary contrast that will age nicely. We updated flooring, modernized the bones of the space with functionality in mind, and brought it all together with finishing details: a range hood, turquoise backsplash, and a bright pop of blue paint.
Farewell, Tuscany
If you had a kitchen designed somewhere between 1995 and 2008, you probably know exactly what this trend looked like. This kitchen had brown and beige everywhere, ornate cabinet trim, built-in columns on the island, a very detailed backsplash over only the stove, and a hood made to look like it was vintage Tuscany. When it comes to kitchen trends, this one might has well have its own time stamp.
So we rolled up our sleeves for a dramatic transformation that included white quartz countertops, white cabinets, and a matching white quartz backsplash to create a seamless, monochromatic design. To break up the monochrome, we added a custom wooden range hood to serve as the statement piece. The cherries on top included dome-style pendant lights in clear and gold above the island, gold knobs and accents, and modern stainless steel appliances.
